At Westmoor Veterinary Hospital we offer an eye testing scheme for all dogs. This scheme helps you keep your pet healthy as well as helping the dogs of the future by informing breeding schemes. This scheme is ran by our highly experienced vet, Chris Warren.
Chris Warren BA VetMB CertVOphthal MRCVS is one of only a select few highly experienced veterinary ophthalmologists who sit on the panel for the BVA/KC/ISDS eye scheme. The scheme is based on a clinical eye examination and is a means of identifying inherited and non-inherited eye conditions in dogs. The results of the tests are used to inform breeding schemes and can be used as an annual eye health check up. For more information on the scheme see the BVA’s website.
When bringing your dog for an eye examination, please remember the following:
- The Scheme is open to all breeds including crossbreeds (they do not have to be registered with the Kennel Club)
- All dogs must be permanently identified by microchip before examination and certification, and the identification will be verified prior to the examination
- If applicable, please bring the relevant KC or ISDS owner registration document with you to enable us to provide you with a certificate at the time of the examination
- Wherever possible, please bring any previous eye certificates issued for the dog
