Introducing Alfie. He came to see our ophthalmic vets because he had a painful non-healing corneal ulcer, which had developed a sequestrum (dead area of cornea).
This required surgery under our operating microscope, to remove the damaged area of cornea. A contact lens was placed to protect his eye whilst it was healing. He also had surgery on his eyelids to prevent them rolling in and rubbing the surface of his eyes, which would cause more ulcers in the future.
Here he is recovering in our brand new cat ward!
