About Us

Westmoor Veterinary Hospital can trace its origins back to 1920 when Mr Gibbings put up his plate. The need for first class animal treatment is as relevant today as it was then and Westmoor has evolved into a state of the art, nine vet small animal practice with twenty-four hour nursing that exists today. Our diagnostic equipment includes digital X-ray, an in house laboratory, scanners, endoscopes and a full range of anaesthetic monitors. The recent addition of a phaco-emulsifier allows us to offer the best possible treatment for cataract. Therefore you should feel confident to recommend us for your ongoing second opinions and eye referrals.

We are a dedicated small animal practice providing 24 hour care with a veterinary nurse on site at all times. The veterinary surgeons in the practice have strong interests in ophthalmology, soft tissue surgery, orthopaedics, medicine and diagnostics.  As such we can provide a wide range of surgical and medical skills to our patients. We are available for consultations on an appointment basis from 9.00am – 7.00pm Monday to Friday and 9.00am – 1.00pm on Saturday, with emergency cover provided by Westmoor veterinary surgeons at night, weekends and all holidays. There is also a nurse on site 24 hours a day to care for inpatients through the night and to assist the on call veterinary surgeon. In July 2012, we proudly achieved HOSPITAL status; this is the highest level a veterinary practice can achieve!

Westmoor also has qualified veterinary nurses who are available for consultations including weight clinics, adolescent health checks, diabetic clinics, dental clinics and many more (see "Clinics" tab at top of the page).  These clinics are available 9.00am-4.30pm Monday to Friday and 10.00am – 12.00pm Saturday.
