Nurse Clinics

Our qualified Veterinary Nurses provide the following clinics for your pets at Westmoor Veterinary Hospital:

 

NURSE CLINICS

Puppy and Kitten Clinic – This clinic offers a monthly check-up for the new addition to your household up for the first 6 months of their life. We can weigh your pet, give worm and flea treatments, check their general health and discuss any concerns you may have. It is also a useful tool for introducing them to the vets without being injected or examined, which we hope will lead to more relaxed patients in the future!  FREE OF CHARGE!

Adolescent Health Checks – This is a general health check for your unruly teenager! We will give advice on all aspects of general health as they grow up into young adults, including diet, exercise, neutering, socialisation and preventative healthcare. FREE OF CHARGE!

Post-Neutering Clinic – Three months after they are neutered, we offer this clinic to help you monitor your pets weight, diet or behaviour changes and to offer advice.  FREE OF CHARGE!

Dental Clinic – The Dental clinic is for all pets, you will be invited automatically 6 months after your pet’s booster. We check the health of their teeth and gums and give advice on dental homecare. This should be done every 6 months as part of their preventative healthcare plan. FREE OF CHARGE!

Weight Clinic – This clinic is for over or under weight pets, aiming to help them reach their correct bodyweight. The clinic is run a qualified Nurse who has a keen interest in this area and will give your pet a personalised diet and exercise plan with regular monitoring. There is a small introduction fee with this clinic.

Mobility Clinic – This is aimed at pets that have difficulty getting around due to illness, injury or obesity. We will give advice on none prescription medications, supplements, exercise and rehabilitation. FREE OF CHARGE!

Small Furries – We have a clinic run by our Nurses to give advice on the care of Rabbits, Guinea pigs, Ferrets, Chinchillas, Rats, Gerbils, Mice and Hamsters! All these are common ‘pocket pets’ each with their own specific needs. FREE OF CHARGE!

Diabetes Clinic – This is a clinic for all our diabetic patients to help you monitor and control their diabetes. The clinic is run by a qualified Nurse who will work closely with your vet to regularly check your pet’s health including blood tests and urine tests and provide lifelong care, support and advice for diabetic pets and their owners. FREE OF CHARGE!

Renal Clinic –We provide this clinic to help you monitor the signs and slow down the progression of renal disease, offering advice on diet and medicating. Sharon Grinter, our Head Nurse runs this clinic and will regularly check your pets blood pressure and take blood samples to monitor the disease and adjust the care we offer accordingly. FREE OF CHARGE!

Senior Health Clinic – This clinic is for all your dear older pets for when they have reached the grand old age of 8 years or over! The programme involves a Nurse appointment, blood test, urine test, blood pressure, a vet consultation and annual check-ups all at a reduced cost, enabling us to pick up age related diseases earlier.

Bereavement Clinic – When you know your pet’s happy days are coming to an end, it can be difficult to come to terms with. Our Nurses can offer you support and guidance through this sad time, helping you to make decisions and to grieve. This clinic is also FREE OF CHARGE.
